The Gun Rack for Hand Rail is a steel framed Gun Rest and Cradle system that stores a firearm in a safe position while travelling and acts as a stable rifle support for excellent accuracy while taking a shot. It is designed to be mounted in the handle rail of the door way opening of a side x side or UTV vehicle. Usual mounting points are (but not limited to) handle bars or roll bar pipes in the door way opening of the vehicle door entrance. The advantages of a mounted firearm in this location are:

Main Design Features:
The Cradle - acts as a safe storage unit while in stored position. It also doubles as a two point support cradle to help the shooter hold on zero while taking aim, ultimately delivering an excellent controlled and accurate shot.
The Strut Assist Hinge - allows the passenger or driver to swivel the gun rest out to create space for easy exit or entry of the vehicle. The strut forces the rest to remain closed and locked, but also automatically closes the rest after exiting or entering the vehicle.
Swivels and Range of Motion: When the rest is being used as a gun rest, it supports the rifle to take accurate shots. The cradle is mounted on a "Double Swivel Mount" which is a steel arm that pivots in two locations. The reason for this design is to provide excellent range of motion so the shooter can enjoy an excellent aiming range from seated or standing positions.
Mounting Clamps and Options - the standard issue clamp is a two part clamp. It closes up on to square and round pipes from 17mm to 45mm. If the pipe or bar is larger than 45mm a Mounting Plate with U Bolts is required. The Mounting plate comes in two size options. See SmartRest - Mounting Plate for more information. There is an angle adjustment feature to compensate for various angles on vehicle types and handle bars.
This Gun Rest model is used when the UTV Side Mount gun rest cannot be mounted due to awkward angles or obstacles that prevent the Side Mount to be mounted. We developed this option to get around those obstacles and simply mount to the hand rail.
The Off Road Gun Rest Series range consists of gun rests for:
- Quad Bikes - Mainly used on the front of a quad bike
- UTVs or ATVs (also known as Side-by-Side or Buggy) - Mainly used on the back tray roll bar section while standing, but can be used on any type of bar or pipe.
- Utes or Pick Ups - mounted on the roll bar or also known as sports bar of a ute or pick up.
This model is suitable for any side-by-side vehicle that has a roll bar which can be used as a mounting location.
